菊水文

古くは、中国では上流に咲く菊の露には不老長寿のご利益があるとされ、日本でも九月九日の「重陽の節句」には菊花の宴を開いて菊酒に延命長寿を願ったとされています。流水に菊の花を浮かべた様を意匠化した美しい吉祥文様です。

Kikusui-mon   (Chrysanthemum Water)

In ancient times in China, the chrysanthemum dew blooming upstream is said to have the benefit of longevity. Similarly in Japan, it is said that drinking chrysanthemum sake at the September 9th chrysanthemum festival promotes longevity. This is a beautiful and auspicious pattern that depicts chrysanthemum petals floating upon water.
