菊は薬草として日本に伝わり、九月九日の重陽の節句には菊花の宴を開いて不老長寿を願うようになりました。また、楓は、秋の紅葉狩りが現代でも日本人の生活に根ざしています。秋を代表するそんな二つの草花を組み合わせた情緒ある文様です。

Kikukaede-mon （Chysanthemums and Maple pattern） 

Chrysanthemums were introduced to Japan as medicinal herbs. During the Chrysanthemum Festival on September 9th, a chrysanthemum flower feast was held to wish for eternal youth and longevity. As for the maple, viewing autumn leaves is rooted in Japanese life even today. “Chrysanthemums and Maple” pattern is an emotional design combining these two botanical symbols of autumn.
