牡丹は中国を代表する花で、その華やかさから「百花の王」として楊貴妃にも愛されました。また、文様としても、毎年大きな花を咲かせることや、その根に薬効があることから、不老長寿、富貴繁栄を表す吉祥文様とされています。

Botan (Peony)

The peony is a flower that represents China and was loved even by Empress Yang Guifei as the “King of Hundred Flowers” for its gorgeousness. It is also seen as an auspicious pattern that represents perpetual youth and longevity as well as prosperity and rank due to the large flowers that bloom every year and its roots that have medicinal properties.
