「四君子文」

四君子文

古来より中国では、梅・菊・蘭・竹の四つが持つ特性を君子になぞらえ、「四君子」と呼び称えてきました。厳寒の中で咲き誇る梅、薬効が高い菊、芳香を放つ蘭、まっすぐな性質を持つ竹。「四君子文」は、そんな四つの草木を組み合わせた吉祥文様です。

Shikunshi-mon (Four Princes Pattern)

Since ancient times, the Chinese have referred to plum blossoms, chrysanthemums, orchids, and bamboo as the “Four Princes”, likening their characteristics to those of a prince. Plum blossoms bloom in severe cold, chrysanthemums are highly medicinal, orchids are fragrant, and bamboo has a straightforward nature. The “Four Princes pattern” is an auspicious combination of these four plants and trees.
